iPhone Insanity: Palo Alto Line Update #3
JC is still in line down in Palo Alto.
Less than two hours to go. The Apple Store’s windows are draped in black, so we can’t see what’s going on in there.
The line is around the second corner now, and three quarters of the way down that block. Definitely more than 300 people here. Maybe 400+.
Got another email from someone else who just now is headed down to an AT&T store, trying to get an iPhone. I’ll see if I can post his pics…
More fresh links. Because it’s already 6 on the east coast, actual folks are getting their hands on the iPhone.
- Mother of all line blog. From across the country.
- First iPhone unboxing I’ve seen.
- Guy with an iPhone is his own mitts.
- Stephen Colbert reviews the iPhone.
- Yet another photograph. Someone needs to turn one on.
- Ah, here we go: Engadget has an actual unboxing and turning on of an iPhone. Now that is hot.
- (I can’t believe I just typed that).
- iFixit is having a live take apart as soon as they get their hands on one, which is now. I think those photos of iPhone guts might be a little too graphic for iLine Waiters.
Disclosure: I own a tiny amount of Apple stock.

Along the lines of what the iFixit guys are doing, I think a great way to promote ‘whatever’ (ideally a good cause of some sort) would be to buy one @ one of the very media covered outlets (Palo Alto, NYC). Walk outside the store, unbox it right there and smash the fu**er in front of everyone, while screaming “stop being consumer whores you f***ing sheep!”.
Ha ha, well there was another site iSmashMyiPhone or something that was doing exactly that, but I dunno if they got enough money to do so:
