iPhone Insanity: Five Days To Go
Here’s a short list of amusing iPhone related links, found over one day (today) of Technorati surfing. I can only imagine the frenzy will get even more insanely hype-filled as Friday approaches…
- People are paying others to wait in line at an Apple Store to get an iPhone.
- If you’re buying an iPhone help this reporter figure out why.
- On Friday, Apple Stores in the Bay Area will be surrounded by podcaster geeks including a rumor that Diggnation will show up at the Palo Alto Apple Store.
- Some reasons why the iPhone might totally suck.
- Ultimate iPhone Campout Guide: How to survive urban camping if you really need the iPhone as bad as you had to watch Episode I.
- Is getting an iPhone worth supporting AT&T?
- iPhone accessories are starting to appear.
- A crack squad of testers have been putting the iPhone through its paces, dropping it on concrete and holding it underwater.
- A few Apple employees are starting to flaunt use their iPhones in public.
- Sprint has some nice talking points to try to stave off switchers to AT&T. I smell fear.
- iPhone might be super duper fragile. I see iPhone case manufacturers rubbing their hands together in glee.
I’m as big an Apple fan-boy as the next guy, but this iPhone hype is a bit disturbing even for me. And that’s not my “I live in Canada so I won’t have one any time soon” side talking either. I’m not sure I’d be willing to shell out the big bucks for one when I can spend a bit more and get a Macbook. Or spend a bit less and get a Mac mini. Meh. I’m still kinda curious to see what the actual device is like though
Well Ross, I am definitely not buying an iPhone right away either. I fully intent to play with it in the flesh a bit and then make a decision. It is definitely an expensive phone, and I’m actually more interested in its web browsing and iPod replacement capabilities (for music, photos and TV shows).
But I’m really tracking iPhone stuff and posting about it this week as the peripheral entertainment looks to be worth a lot of laughs… and some extra traffic
Thanks for visiting and commenting!
Admittedly, some of the entertainment stuff is… entertaining

I can’t think of a single event/product that I’d be willing to line up for 4 days in order to attend/get. Let alone a phone. I WILL get in line for Leopard, but for a max of 2 or 3 hours.
Ha, ha. Gizmodo has an interview with them.
Same here — I did wait in line for the Apple Store grand opening in Palo Alto (met Steve Jobs) and for Tiger (I think) at the Burlingame Apple Store.
But yeah — even major movies like Star Wars — I might have waited in line when I was in high school but not these days
