General Webomatica Update

June 17th, 2007

Been busy with the real world over the past week so the blogging slowed a tad. I missed two weeks of Link Sharing, fell off the wagon with some other posts I had in mind, and my Goals list for 2007 hasn’t gotten any shorter. But here’s the general gist of what’s been happening at Webomatica behind the scenes:

I’ve got to say, great job on the home page. I noticed the middle column wasn’t loading, then realized that it was PithHelmet (so reload the page unfiltered).

The other day, I actually used it as an example to someone else as an example of how to do a home page correctly. Very nice.

Hey, I like the wider blog page column width and the new home page design!

Sheesh, my 2Dolphins sitemap seems positively sparse after seeing yours. Gotta work on that some more…

  3. webomatica says:

Thanks for the comments — as for the site map, many posts show up in more than one category so there’s some duplicates in there…

  4. Dave says:

I love the new homepage…it’s slick. One desired item: I’d love to see a short one or two sentence editorial blurb/comment in the rss feed from you. I realize it would be more work for you which you probably don’t want to do or deal with, but damn it would be nice when I’m filtering through that list. Just a thought…

Oh and the site map is pretty wild. You’ve built up quite a body of articles. I’d love to see your thoughts on what articles/blogs you’d select as the cream of the crop if you were to ever compile a select few into a book or something (I know, I know…books = anachronistic, but I’m more interested to know which your favorite posts and which ones you’d want to highlight in a ‘best of webomatica’ type compilation).

  5. webomatica says:

Hey Dave… thanks. I’ll have to see how that blurb / comment thing works — if there’s some standard tag I can access somehow via wordpress.

The sitemap is frankly rather scary. I need to tame it. And your comment about “favorite posts” might be a good additional page…

  6. “I’m going through MyBlogLog and adding all the Webomatica community members’ blogs to my Google Reader.”

You’re not obligated to add my 823483843 blogs, really :)

  7. webomatica says:

Ha ha, well I’m adding one blog from each member… even just that will make my reader a bit out of control!

  8. I guess you can focus on techipedia then. Good stuff should be coming soon. Been too busy reading but not writing … I’m now trying to work in both :)
