Music Notes: New Music To Shake A Stick At
June 7th, 2007
Every once in a while I search for news of my long time favorite musical artists and for some reason, this summer is when most have decided to release new stuff.
The recently reformed Crowded House’s new album Time On Earth is slated for July 10. They’re on tour, and it looks like they’ll be in the Bay Area come August.
The Smashing Pumpkins (well, half the band) have an album called Zeitgeist also coming out on July 10.
Suzanne Vega’s Beauty and Crime debuts on July 17. It seems to be a theme album about New York City.
Kelly Willis, pretty much the only country artist I listen to, has a new album called Translated From Love on June 26.
Radiohead is supposed to have something for us this year.
Paul McCartney’s Memory Almost Full is out now, but I’m a bit scared to give it a whirl.
Sam Phillips has a new one in 2008. No word from Elvis Costello on new material.
Lots of listening ahead. First one in iTunes gets reviewed on this blog… oh wait, that’s Paul McCartney.
I’m really digging on the new Maroon 5 “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” album.
McCartney’s new CD is excellent. It is bold, daring, and adventurous like Band on the Run and Ram. Give it a few listens with an open-mind and you’ll love it.
Hi Brad I’ll take that as an endorsement. As mentioned above, I did notice that it’s available in iTunes so I have little excuse not to pick it up.
I really liked Chaos and Creation so I should take the plunge.
