Blogger Casey Serin Shuts Down His Blog
May 31st, 2007
Casey Serin, the guy who got in heaps of financial trouble buying too many houses, finally shut down his blog, I Am Facing Foreclosure. Sad that it had to end this way but if I think he did it for the reasons I’m thinking of, he did the right thing.
Basically, in his final posts he talked about how he had signed a contract with his wife that he would get a real job and bring in $1,000 a week immediately or shut down the blog. I think he had to choose between his wife or the blogosphere, and if that’s the case, he made the right choice. One made a vow, the other didn’t.
Don’t Hate Casey Serin seems to confirm this.
Of course, this raises the general subject of what would make you shut down your blog. I think we all have our limits whether we realize it or not.
I found the whole saga of Casey Serin rather fascinating. There are still conspiracy theories (read the comments here) that the whole thing was a scam in itself as the past few weeks were a flurry of link selling and donations, and it all seems to have been for naught. Oh well. Personally I don’t think the guy was smart enough to pull off a scam of those proportions.
And don’t worry, if you still need your Serin fix, just consult the CaseyPedia. The guy had a Wiki documenting his travails. Sheez.
Update: An extremely detailed, spot on analysis of what Casey did wrong over at Below The Crowd.
