Our apartment is within walking distance to a decent movie theater but for the more “indie” flicks we have to be in San Francisco proper or trek down to Palo Alto. [...]

Hey Bruce, the organist wasn't there during Philadelphia Story, but we definitely want to return... luckilly we now get the schedule in the mail so we'll keep our eyes out for the next fun film. The theater is a real gem in Palo Alto!

Fully agree. By the way, seeing a silent movie at this venue is just the best ever - the Mighty Wurlitzer organ sounds great when played by one of the keyboard masters who ply their trade here, and David Packard gets nothing but the best possible prints for showing off the joys of silent films. The theater is clean, quiet, and impeccably beautiful. Comfy chairs, reasonably-priced vittles and excellent acoustics round out the experience. This is the way it's supposed to be!
