Gilmore Girls: Looks Like This Is The End - No Season 8

May 3rd, 2007

Gilmore GirlsAh well. Here’s the first news article I’ve seen breaking the news, so it’s my duty to pass it on: Goodbye to “Gilmore Girls” on May 15.

Quote:

Sources said that an offer had been put on the table for the show’s two stars — Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel — to continue the series, but an agreement could not be reached.

Kind of a bummer, as I’ve been enjoying the last few episodes, but I think it is time to put the series behind us. There are still two more episodes in the weeks to come which I’ll definitely be on top of, now that it’s clear they are the final ones.

Another oddity is the blog poll I have running right now. It shows that at least for anybody who has happened upon this hapless website, the overwhelming majority thinks there should be a season 8. Right now it’s looking like 146 votes for, 17 no, 15 I don’t care, and 6 for a spin off called “Luke” (?).

Oh well, too bad I don’t have any influence on the CW network. But since it’s clear this is the last season, I’ll do my best to come up with some Gilmore Girls related posts for the final push over the next two weeks.

The more I think about it, this is an appropriate place to end the series with Rory graduating from college and Lorelai about to make a decision whether to link up with Luke again. Still, it’s kinda sad, for sure.

the only thing i hate about it not having another season is that Luke and Lorelai never got back together. I just wished htey would have gotten married as the season Finale

I understand that all shows must end. The problem is that there was no warning. I did wonder what would happen to the show since Rory was finishing school but I was not prepared for the end. I am a die hard fan and always will be. I feel that we could handle the end better if we had been told at the being of the season not the end. BOOO to you WB! Not the best way to do business and you don’t really have any good shows to fall back on.

Yeah Anna I really agree with you - from what I understand, the decision to end the series came after the cast had already filmed the season finale. If they had made the decision BEFORE the season finale was filmed, there might have been more time to come up with something really celebratory.

Of course, this is all speculation as the season finale / series finale hasn’t aired yet… that’s next week! So the jury is still out…

OMG I was so angry with that last show….I’m so sad!

Sounds like you have just seen it. I’m on the west coast so, I’m just about to watch it. I’m not too hopeful that it will be a satisfying conclusion!

I cryed watching the show last night it just was not enough. They left it hanging like a season finally not a series finally.

  10. comment Gravatar Ashley - May 16th, 2007

I agree, It was so rushed, it didn’t feel like there was enough closure… I’d like to see another season just to put a proper end to the show.

I am totally disappointed, I thoroughly enjoyed and in some cases related with this show, as I was a single mom. I think that there should be a Season 8, so that we can see what becomes of Rory in her new indeavor and if Lorelai and Luke get married.

You know the truth fo the matter is that when there is something good and wholesome, no voilence, no cuss words, and it really has a story to tell, that’s when it ends, and that’s truly a shame, because with the way the world is we need it more now that we ever did.

  12. comment Gravatar webomatica - May 16th, 2007

Yes I was pretty bummed out by the finale. I think the crew would have done a better job if they knew it was going to be the last show of the series. The decision to cancel the show was made after that episode was filmed!

Boo hoo is right! This is my favorite show and the only one I’m faithful to. I never miss a show if I don’t have to. I don’t answer my phone, my door, or my computer on Tuesday nights. I’m not a big television watcher, but I love this show. I’m really going to miss it. I vote for season eight!

over the past 7 years i have been watching this show i knew luke and lorelai would end up together. season 1 i said Luke and lorelai would get married. i really thought that would happen and would be the perfect ending to the show. i do not think that the show ended with an amazing ending. the fans expected more from the ending and were expecting more from the writers. with where it ended i think you could write more and enertain the fans more with lorelai and lukes relationship building up again. i think a season 8 would be an awesome idea to end the show with a WARNING and just atleast let Lorelai and luke get married and then life as we know it will be complete.
    thank you and goodnight.

Gilmore Girls to me is one of the most original shows on tv, I’ve watched every episode begininng to end and now knowing that it is canceled is a huge bummer. Just like everyone else thinks the show should have ended with something more final if it wasn’t going on with an eight season, after all we all like happy endings don’t we?

COME SEE ‘MRS. KIM’ ON THE LIVE STAGE

Calling all Gilmore Girls fans! Calling all Gilmore Girls fans!

If you are missing the irascible ‘Mrs. Kim’ from the hit television series, then you must see her in a new play called THE ENCHANTED NIGHTINGALE at film and television director Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theatre in Burbank.

Did you know that Emily Kuroda, otherwise known as Lane’s mother ‘Mrs. Kim’ from the Gilmore Girls, is a trained theatre actress?

Before joining the long running television series, Kuroda was best known for her extensive work on stage: East West Players, Actor’s Co-op, La Jolla Playhouse, Playwright’s Arena, the Public, BAM (NYC), South Coast, CTG, Berkley Rep, Singapore Rep, LA Woman’s Shakespeare, Huntington Theatre (Boston), and LATC.

For a limited time (through September) Kuroda is currently starring as the wise, nurturing, and comic ‘Mrs. Wu’ in THE ENCHANTED NIGHTINGALE, based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale “The Emperor And The Nightingale.”

Over the years, Kuroda has acted in some 35 productions. She’s received five Dramalogue awards, a Garland award for outstanding performance, and a LA Ovation nomination for Best Lead Actress. Kuroda has become a staple in Asian-American theater — including in David Henry Hwang’s M Butterfly.

You won’t want to miss her in the Falcon’s production of THE ENCHANTED NIGHTINGALE also starring Kathleen Chen, West Liang and from MTV Chi, Simon Yin. Together the four-some bring to life a delightful tale about learning that the most valuable of treasures are the family and friends that surround us.

The ENCHANTED NIGHTINGALE performance schedule and show information can be found at http://www.falcontheatre.com or by calling the box office at 818-955-8101.

I miss this series. I cant believe that so many “holes” will be left open when the series quits! I still think that Lorie (Graham) and Luke should have married!! I am setting here watching a replay of the one in which Rory gets proposed to…about f-ing time!! Oh well I have vented enough!

there needs to be somthing like one more episode or like a 2 hour special to tie up what was supposed to happen before April and christopher came back; Luke and Loreali need to get married they are perfect for each other and to just end a season ( a season none the less) like how it has been ended is just plain mean
sure every show has it’s moment when it needs to end, I get that but to end a season how it was ended! i mean come one if they were not planning on haveing a 8th season they should not have made it go as long as they did between Luke and Loreali

Have just finished watching season 7 here in Belgium, and I have to say it just plain sucks that the show finished the way it did. Yes, I cried, and expected Logan to come back. At least Loreali and Luke are back together, although that is also left too high up in the air. So sad it ended like that. Definitley needs an extended episode, even if it is to represent a few months down the line, in order to put it all to bed and give closure.

I think leaving the show like that will be a bit ungrateful to the fans who supported them since the pilot episode came out. if they need a reason to continue the show, it should include at least tying up the story lines that they started so as not to disappoint and leave their faithful fans hanging. it’s a great show and they owe their popularity to the fans. Even a half-season would suffice if only to wrap things up nicely. The end of the 7th season is not an ending deserving of the Gilmore Girls. It should not be the ending this show should be remembered as having. They at least owe it to themselves, the show and the show’s followers to end it right.

As to how I hope the show will end, I hope they will tie it up in such a way that the story goes back to focusing more on the Gilmore Girls and their amazing relationship. Kind of bring back the feeling when the show started. Of course I want Luke and Lorelai to end up together as well, maybe even do an “after 5 years” kind of segment? :)

That’s what I think. I just love this show!

  24. comment Gravatar reba - January 30th, 2008

I think this was the greatest show ever. I watched all seven seasons in a matter of 2 weeks. I have to say i was addicted to it. We all want Lorelai and Luke to get married and live happily ever after and maybe have the twins she dreamed about. Please give us a season 8 and we won’t ask for anything more. PLEASE!!!

  25. comment Gravatar Sarah - February 19th, 2008

Why did it end? I saw all the 7 seasons and I expected an other end…it’s not fair
She had a good boyfriend Logan and just because he asked her to get married, they break up
I hope there comes a season 8 so they will meet again and then everything comes good in the end…
Please give us a season 8!!!

  26. comment Gravatar Chantelle - March 17th, 2008

They NEED to make a 8 season or i will cry! You cant just end a series like that! It makes no sense! Now what am i going to watch every night?!?!?! We need a 8 season! ! !

  27. comment Gravatar Mary D - March 25th, 2008

They need to bring Gilmore Girls back and make a season 8 at least! Do they realize how the dvd sales are going with this show still???

    Bring them back!

  28. comment Gravatar Shanie - April 26th, 2008

I totally agree with all that there needs to be another season just to wrap things up for fans. I understand that you need to keep people thinking, but not like this with sooo many things unanswered. BRING ON SEAON 8 or at least a Gilmore Girls Movie or something.

  29. comment Gravatar MaryAnn - May 3rd, 2008
