Who’s The Cylon? Poll Results

March 31st, 2007

Battlestar GalacticaSince February, I had a non-scientific poll on this blog regarding who would be revealed as a Cylon at the end of season three. Here are the results from 260 votes:

  • Starbuck: 43 votes
  • Gaeta: 31 votes
  • Tigh: 22 votes
  • Chief (Tyrol): 16 votes
  • Anders: 16 vots
  • Baltar: 16 votes
  • Commander Adama: 15 votes
  • Roslyn: 14 votes
  • The Galactica (ship) 14 votes
  • Zarek: 13 votes
  • Dualla: 11 votes
  • Lee Adama (Apollo) 10 votes
  • Jane Seymour: 10 votes
  • Tory (Roslyn’s Aid) 6 votes
  • Helo: 5 votes
  • Callie: 5 votes
  • Seelix 5 votes
  • Head Six 5 votes
  • Dr. Cottle: 3 votes

Based on the season finale, I’d say the reveals were: Tyrol (Chief), Tigh, Anders, and Tory (Roslyn’s Aid). Roslyn and Starbuck are questionable, although I’m more apt to say Roslyn definitely is a Cylon and Starbuck is a figment of Lee’s imagination.

I think Starbuck’s winning of the poll was a search for justification of her death in the episode Maelstrom. It’s still possible, as her appearance at the end of the season finale wasn’t explained.

Gaeta was definitely a mistaken choice, and one I agreed with, mostly because it made more logical sense as he’s such a loner.

With Baltar, there’s obviously a continued wish to out him as a Cylon, because it would explain why Six keeps showing up in his head and why he’s such a self-serving piece of airlock bait. But truth be told, he’s a scum bag, and scum bags exist in the real world as part of the human condition. It actually makes more sense that he’s human than Cylon.

From there on, the poll slips into strangeness, but here’s some notes:

  • I think Commander Adama as a Cylon would have been an awesome, dramatic WTF moment.
  • The Galactica (ship) is a pet theory of a friend that I hope he’ll explain in more detail.
  • Jane Seymour was a joke I personally stuck in there as a reference to the original series, based on this funny article about all her original scenes hacked to death in the editing room (read under “Article Excerpt”).
  • Seelix showed up after the episode where Chief and Callie are trapped in the airlock. There’s some suspicion that Seelix was responsible for that incident.

Anyhow, I hope you had as much fun with the poll as I did!
