Twitter Tweaking

March 15th, 2007

TechnologyAs usual whenever I jump headfirst into something, I’m taking a slight step away as the new car smell wears off.

I’m still finding a comfortable space for Twitter. First off, the sheer amount of “tweets” were getting annoying. So I removed major sites and aggregators from my friends list. I don’t really need Techmeme updates via Twitter. That sort of thing can stay in Google Reader.

Second, the Twitter site has been slow loading recently (probably because of all the attention it’s been getting), so it’s presence in my sidebar was slowing the page loading down (can’t have that!). As a result, I took that sidebar thingie out for now. I hope to reactivate it later.

I’m certainly not alone feeling the morning-after-post-Twitter glow fade, as Tony Hung says he’s not entirely sold on it, while others have harsher words: useless. I’m still somewhere in between, as I’ve noticed some bloggers using it to “break” stories or announce when they’ve written a new post - this I find useful. Kind of like a blog supplement.

Anyhow, I’m still Twittering so if you really want to know what I’m up to, add me as a friend in Twitter.
