The MacBook Is Fixed

March 11th, 2007

So this is the last post about my Apple MacBook hard drive failure (previous posts here, here, here, and here). I got a call from the Apple Store this morning saying it was ready for me to pick up, which was a pleasant surprise seeing how I only dropped it off yesterday afternoon. I was totally expecting to not get it back for several days, at least.

The keyboard plus the entire top case was replaced, so it’s almost like a new machine, cosmetically. It was suffering from the strange dark shadowy stains on the palm rests.

An added benefit of the keyboard replacement was a sticky left shift key (from a beer spill a while back) is now gone. The track pad and central button are also like new.

Anyhow, I’m now back home, downloading several hundred megabytes of software updates. I’m a happy camper as Apple took care of all the repairs and I didn’t pay a thing for it, since it was all within warranty. Sweet!
