		<description>Seems the technology companies here are getting their foot in the door with the content distribution, and increasingly content creation. I suppose one could even include netflix in there :)  Anyhow then when you add in all the hollywood stuff in LA - there&#039;s a lot going on with the west coast.</description>

		<description>Thanks for linking to the Siliconvalleywatcher article. That was an interesting read. The notion of Silicon Valley as a media powerhouse is an interesting one, especially if one expands the definition of &quot;media&quot;. 

I started thinking about all the other media/entertainment companies based up here - gaming (EA), 3d animation (pixar), special fx (lucasfilm) in addition to the ones he outlined and you could make an even stronger case for the shift he&#039;s talking about. 

I guess as he suggests, the technology moniker hawked by so many valley companies usually masks the close ties to the media space. It also  sure makes Apple&#039;s recent shedding of the &quot;computer&quot; portion of the company name a harbinger of things to come...

And I&#039;m not trying to get frothy on the valley or anything. I&#039;m just fascinated by the continued &quot;convergence&quot; of technology and entertainment.</description>
