The Best And Worst James Bond Films

February 17th, 2007

So what was the point of my watching all twenty-something James Bond movies? So I could write several awesome “Best Of” posts laden with Bond quips, cool images, and / or sexual innuendo. So here are what I consider the best Bond films — exactly seven, in honor of “007”.

Note: These are listed in chronological order, or in “no particular order.”

Secondary note: Please click on the titles to read my previous reviews on each film. Plus, here are the links to all my James Bond movie reviews.

Best 007 James Bond Films:

001. From Russia With Love

From Russia With Love

Three aspects of Bond: suave seducer, sneaky spy, and killer were established right here.

002. Goldfinger

Goldfinger

Take From Russia With Love but add an uber bad guy and several evil henchmen (and one henchwoman).

003. Thunderball

Thunderball

You’ll certainly “get the point” of Bond during this one. There’s the addition of epic battles and an outrageously smoking hot babe to the franchise.

004. The Spy Who Loved Me

The Spy Who Loved Me

Roger Moore’s best outing, with adept, needed variations on the Bond formula.

005. The Living Daylights

The Living Daylights

Dalton is surprisingly good, playing a more serious Bond after a string of “meh” Roger Moore outings.

006. GoldenEye

Goldeneye

Pierce Brosnan comes in and resets the franchise yet again. Plus, it’s hard to “top” Xenia as the sexiest baddie since Pussy Galore.

007. Casino Royale (2006)

Casino Royale

The ultimate Bond reboot. A bit too violent for my tastes, but a shock to the system is yet again, exactly what the franchise needed.

Worst 007 Bond Films:

1. Moonraker: Space and spies don’t mix.

2. Tomorrow Never Dies: I started watching this one, and realized I’d seen it before. Totally forgettable.

3. Die Another Day: I wanted to die during this film, as it seemed to last an entire day.

4. Licence To Kill: Much too dark Dalton misfire.

5. Diamonds Are Forever: Sean Connery looks bored during his last EON Bond film.

6. Octopussy: Too many villains and Bond stoops to dressing in a clown suit.

7. The Man With The Golden Gun: Just tragically average, and in addition to the gun there’s a third nipple — gross.

(Never Say Never Again was pretty bad, but it wasn’t an EON production. Still, it ought to be mentioned as yet another bad Bond film.)

Who’s The Best Bond Actor?

So who’s the best Bond? I’m a Sean Connery fan. These next lists are my orderings based on who played Bond:

Sean Connery Bond Films from Best to Worst:

Goldfinger, Thunderball, From Russia With Love, Dr. No, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever

Roger Moore Bond Films from Best to Worst:

The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, Live And Let Die, A View To A Kill, The Man With The Golden Gun, A View To A Kill, Octopussy, Moonraker

Pierce Brosnan Bond Films from Best to Worst:

GoldenEye, The World Is Not Enough, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day

Timothy Dalton Bond Films from Best to Worst:

The Living Daylights, Licence To Kill

…and poor George Lazenby only made one Bond film, which was pretty decent. Lastly, I think the jury is still out with Daniel Craig, but he’s off to an outstanding start.

Hi Angel, those are some good points. Since Casino Royale showed Bond just starting his career maybe he’ll do some of those traditional Bond things (Q, martinis, more Bond women) in the next one. It might take a couple of Daniel Craig as Bond for me personally to decide if he’s as suave as Sean Connery but I’m eager to find out with the good start.

    Thanks for visiting and commenting!

  2. John Bigbootay says:

Casino Royale was atrocious. out with the smooth, one-step-ahead, intelligent, capable, worldly Bond–in with the troubled-street-thug-uber-violent-with-no-particular-motivation Bond.

    yechhhhh.

  3. Sonny Knight says:

I agree about 80% with your assessment. Growing up with the Bond franchise I of course like Sean Connery as the best Bond; However, I think D.Craig is very promising, why, because I think the best gage is who portrays Flemming’s character best from the original book, Casino Royale. Speaking of which, how many of you remember the original Casino Royale, spy spoof, with David Niven as 007, Woody Allen as James Bond Jr. and Elke Sommer as thee original Bond girl??

  4. webomatica says:

Hi Sonny, thanks for the comments, and yeah, I did write a post on the 1967 Casino Royale. I thought it was just okay.

    Thanks for visiting and commenting!

  5. Stewey Lewey says:

I like the people who think that Casino Royale is a bad film because it doesn’t have ridiculous gadgets, cheesy one-liners and a villian trying to take over the world. Casino Royale was about the best bond film I’ve ever seen in every department; Daniel Craig was probably the most convincing bond, the plot was simple but realistic for once and the action scenes are great. Contrary to a lot of opinion here I would rate Dalton as one of the best bonds; he’s actually what the character is supposed to be like– not a cheesy, embarrassing buffoon like Moore played him, but someone actually capable of killing someone and being cruel.

Top 5 Films (as in, the ones I most enjoy watching):

    1. Casino Royale
    2. The Living Daylights
    3. Thunderball
    4. Goldeneye
    5. For Your Eyes Only

    Worst 5 Films

    1. Die Another Day
    2. Octopussy
    3. A View to a Kill
    4. Moonraker
    5. Diamonds are Forever

  6. webomatica says:

Stewey Lewey, thanks for commenting. I pretty much agree with you. I think one aspect many people aren’t considering are that I watched these films in order to their release date. And when you take that into consideration, Dalton as Bond in Living Daylights is a huge improvement over Moore In View To A Kill.

Definitely looking forward to the next Daniel Craig installment to see if he can keep up the Bond game over several films.

  7. 007Drew says:

If your a person that dosent like a bond film that has gadgets, and a villian trying to take over the world, “Why even go to a Bond film at all? Might as well go to a cowboy movie because thats basically all it is is shooting, punching, and fighting in the new one Casino Royale. Either stick with an undercover agent with gadets and missions going after villians. Or forget 007 and just make a cowboy movie if thats what you want.

Might as well stick with the basic gadget and mission in all the Bond films made.

  8. The name is Bond...James Bond says:

Well the only reason Dalton was viewed as a “good” Bond is because Moore was too old to continue playing Bond. Dalton was horrible as James Bond and if you read some of the publishings about his time as James Bond, I almost killed the series and that would be why he was not asked to play Bond again. Thankfully Brosnan was able to pull the series up out of the shitter with Goldeneye. I think The Living Daylights would have been a better movie without Dalton and someone else as Bond. As far as License to Kill.…that movie was absolute garbage and there wasn’t a person on earth that could save that movie.…it was such a shitty plot hands down. I’m not saying the Brosnan is an awesome Bond because he isn’t but compared to Dalton he was a better Bond hands down.

  9. webomatica says:

Well Mr. Bond it’s an honor to have you visit this website! I feel shaken and stirred.

  10. ian lancaster fleming says:

Having seen “Casino Royale” after enduring all the hype, I have to say that as an action film, it is good. NOT amazing, but good! As a “Bond” film however.…… If this is intended to be a reboot of the franchise, does this mean, a) all the previous stories are going to be re-done? b) that we ignore any sense of continuity to Flemings original stories??? This purports to be Bond at the beginning of his career, but, anyone who has read Flemings’books knows that ‚although “Casino Royale” is the first story, Bond was already a double O when its events took place. Bond would have to have been younger than the 37-or 38 he appears to be in this, considering that, according to the original books again, the mandatory retirement age from the field for a double-O was 45! I also feel that totally wiping out the original “M”, the Admiral from the time line is mistake, and an insult. It appears to be a case, once again of Hollywood thinking it can always do better!!! As to Mr Craig… A good action hero and an extremely good actor, but he just isn’t THAT character.…there is a certain “something” to the character of 007 that, for me, Craig appears to be lacking. (He could have at least dyed his hair but that could just be construed as nit picking…) As to opinions as to the best and worst of the films…although I do agree that some of them were quite weak,it has to be remembered that they were all products of their time. “Moonraker” for example, only shares the title and name of the villain with the book, but ot was made during the “Star Wars” boom and really had to do a lot to do well at the box office. Plotwise I think OHMSS was probably most accurate to the book. It could have been so easy to change the end and make Bond the all conquering hero, but it was true to Fleming’s story, and i think that was a brave move!! As to the best and worse Bonds…well, Connery will ALWAYS be the template by which others are measured. In fact Fleming grew to like his performance so much, that he introduced a Scottish heritage for Bond in the books in appreciation. Dalton also was aFleming purist who tried hard to bring the “edge” to the part, but was hampered by a not particularly brilliant script in “Licence to Kill”. I also feel that he was always going to be the “second best” at the time, as it’s widely known that EON wanted Brosnan, but couldn’t have him. My first time on this site, Ilook forward to reading any comments and come backs!!!

  11. John says:

I still do not agree on why Octopussy is considered a bad James Bond film. I know its a bit cheesy, with the storyline almost predictable, but hey its entertainment values are good. Who cares about the large amount of villains in this movie, I mean James Bond would have alot of angry people chasing him down. And the action scenes are good, not great like that of Casino Royale but it satisfied me enough. I believed its worth your money even if it is a bit corny, but hey its only my opinion.

  12. 007's dry cleaner says:

I am sorry but for me the worst Bond film of all time was that crappy Tomorrow Never dies. That was horrible! what was the point of the Chinese Bond? Why do they call James Bond James Bond if he is not the center of the action? Also, all of the PC crap sickens me. i am tired of Bond saving the woman and dragging her thru the film, just so she can talk tough and pretend to know how to fight. I Miss Connery, I miss the loner Bond. Also, M, I can’t stand her, here is another tough talker but that’s about it. Talk is cheap y’know. And when did Bond ever take orders from M? He tolerated M, the real James Bond would never allow the original M to talk down to him like this new grumpy B with a chip on her shoulder. I really don’t like the tough woman crap, its old hat now and looks stupid. “Balls?” Having “balls” has nothing with talking. Anyone can talk, an old man can talk, an old woman can talk. its just all weak, Just like every other bully, talking tough is a front to hide inner weakness. I did not like Casino Royal at all. For me, Bond movies are over the top with very intense and unique action scenes. Royal just seemed like some other movie with the Bond name stamped on it. Besides the racist beginning put me off in a pretty big way.

  13. […] attention long after you’ve moved on to other things. I just got another comment on my James Bond post I wrote back in […]

  14. James says:

Angel’s comments on Casino Royale suggests she either did not understand the movie or she didn’t watch it. Seriously,

    1. Q, this is Bond’s start as a 00.. maybe they didn’t assign him the luxury of gadgets yet. Level up hero! Also, you didn’t see Q in Dr. No did you?

    2. Dude, it’s Bond’s start as a 00!! Aren’t you at all curious as to why a Shaken Vodka Martini is his drink? After all, after a series of attempts of finding the right drink and the “I don’t care” comment.. he does say “this is actually not bad”.. TA DA.. there he found his drink!

    3. The Bond girl was clearly stated in the movie. Your inability to remember it is your own problem lol.

    4. I don’t even know what you are getting at with that comment.. lol

For me, Lazenby is tall but his face is not bond. I liked Brosnan better than Moore but Connery takes the cake. Best bond film ever.. goldeneye. Dude tank in the streets.. how sweet is that? Haven’t found the worst one yet :P

  15. webomatica says:

Heh.… this post continues to garner comments long after I’ve forgotten what it was about. I wonder when the next Bond film is coming out…

  16. Michael says:

Tentatively titled “Bond 22″ is scheduled for release on November 7, 2008. By the way, “Casino Royale” (the 2006 version, not the 1967 spoof) is the best movie I’ve ever seen. Not Bond movie; any movie. I haven’t watched that many Bond films, to be honest, but most of my expectations for “CR” were met.

  17. krem says:

I like Brosnan better than Moore and Connery. Connery just happened to be the first Bond!

  18. Adriano says:

Hey, great list! I kind of agree. There’s only one Bond, Sean. Connery happened to have a great director, Guy Hamilton. In the ‘70s I read all the books, several times in fact. I also used to go to movie theaters and record (and learn) the audio with a Philips K-7 since there were no videotapes at the time. Connery had a style that none else ever had. His best movies were IMHO Goldfinger and Thunderball, his worst was Diamonds Are Forever (Never Say Never even worse, but wasn’t really serious). And yes, too bad he didn’t play One Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but poor George wasn’t that bad though. Roger, I couldn’t stand him. All the others not even close. Casino Royal is a very good movie with an excellent actor, but I’m sorry that’s not Bond.

  19. […] The Best And Worst James Bond Films: Took me a while. I need to find another project like this. […]

  20. Traveller says:

I am another fan of the Bond flicks, and unlike many have also read and enjoyed Ian Fleming’s books (which are quite distinct from the movies). While I do like Sean Connery, I enjoyed Roger Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me (as a teen I loved all the gadgets and elaborate sets in this movie), and Pierce Brosnan in Golden Eye (which I agree has one of the best Bond girls too!). I was, like most other reviewers, impressed with the re-boot in Casino Royale. Particularly liked the way the movie ended. With “The name’s Bond, James Bond” right at the very end.

  21. Justin says:

Best Bond -(1) Sean Connery (2) Daniel Craig (3) Roger Moore (4) Pierce Brosnan (5) Tomothy Dalton (6) George Lazenby note…Daniel Craig’s performance in only 1 bond film deserves 2nd spot.

Best Bond Films — (1) Thunderball (2) Dr No (3) Goldfinger (4) Casino Royale (5) Live and Let Die

Best Bond Girls — (1) Dominoe (2) Kissy Suzuki (3) Jinx (4) Solitaire

NOTES — I hope that the franchise does not steer the next film towards a more light hearted Roger Moore style of Bond film. Daniel Craig has been quoted as saying just that. In my opinion, Casino Royale got it just right. It is very reminiscent of Dr No in its realism (for a meglamaniac adventure film that is) and its raw, emotional performances. I like some of the Moore films, they are enjoyable and Moore had the ability to introduce light humour (Saint style) into the Bond character. I just hope that the Moore style will be something that we can look back on, not something that will be rehashed.

In general, Bond is pure escapism at its best.…I go through “Bond waves” that is to say, periods where I can’t get enough. It is important to let the movies rest for a while though, then, when the need to watch them again builds up to boiling point.…watch them all over again…

    Justin

  22. Drew says:

    Note:
Justin if you want a movie with realism go to a cowboy movie and let the James Bond movies alone. Let them continue there tradition with the gadets and and all the imaginary or (unrealism) as you might say that make a James Bond movie. For all the James bond movies up until Casino Royal have had gadgets and are made that way which what makes a good classic James Bond Movie.

If you Just want a movie with kicking, fighting, and shooting guns like Casino Royal with no gadgets, then “just go to a cowboy movie!!”

  23. Sean is the best and will always be! Daniel Craig wasn’t bad too. I won’t compare them though as IMO they are completely different styles/approach to the character.

  24. Thomas says:

In my opinion the Best James Bond actor ever was Sean Connery because of the way he played James Bond.He was exactly how who would imagine the super spy James Bond smooth and sly.His best film in my opinion has to be Dr No because of the storyline of it of how it always surprises you.

  25. zen.ibrahem says:

I found all the actors excellent and no one bad and the movies too

  26. I’m with Thomas here. Sean Connery forever…No one had the charm and the look of the Scot.

  27. James Bond is nothing comparing to Alice Cooper, he is a made-up character

  28. Lemmar says:

I agree with your best Bond films, where’s Live And Let Die. I thought Moore made a great debut as Bond in this movie with Jane Seymour as Solitaire: One of the best Bond girls, and Yaphet Kotto as Dr Kananga. Even though some of your worst Bond films I’d have disagree. Moonraker wasn’t all that bad: Jaws, Hugo Drax, and the plot for 007 to go into outer space was quite interesting. Along with Diamonds Are Forever, I don’t think it was Connery that made the film lack action and humor,
I blame Jill St. John for playing the annoying Bond girl, Tiffany Case.

Best Bond Film: Live And Let Die
Worst Bond film: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
OHMSS would’ve been better with Connery but who knows?

  29. listen to the music maaaan! says:

This is all good, but i’m going to take a different route.
Without the music, the films would have only one leg to stand on, as a composer i make my opinions 55% on the soundtracks. …
Therefore regardless of how bad a story might be, the music plays second role to save a picture IMO.
as an example ‘Live & Let Die’ rocks! Cracking soundtrack!!!!
‘Man with Golden Gun’ Pumping Riffage! etc etc
I love the list, but still have to watch Casino Royale.
Maybe if music was concerned we would have to compile a different list??? No harm in that, but would be interesting to see how ppl react to it.

    Thanks!

  30. Slammerworm says:

    Okay, seen ‘em all now:
    1) Casino Royale (2006). A goodly dose of the right stuff.
    2) From Russia With Love. Oh, those pesky double-crossing Russians.
    3) On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Mrs Peel, James Bond and the best storyline of the lot.
    4) Die Another Day. Convention-busting Brosnan triumph.
    5) Dr No. The primal text, with Connery at his most likeable.
    6) For Your Eyes Only. Sir Roger’s one real Bond movie.
    7) Goldeneye. Dragster-paced human manga novel.

    17) Licence To Kill. Impassioned Dalton in post-good Miami Vice season opener.
    18) Thunderball. Long, lingering, lukewarm sog with remote-control Connery.
    19) A View To A Kill. Golem-like Moore, plot beamed in from Mars.
    20) The World Is Not Enough. Big empty nothing with some great actors rattling around inside.
    21) Moonraker. Come back Ed Wood, all is forgiven.
    22) Octopussy. Plotless tedium enlivened only by silly bits.
    23) Casino Royale (1967). A complete dog’s breakfast.

  31. Thee bondfan says:

I feel the your anger on this page… Listen. All the movies are great. There must be a difference. If they were all alike it would be a disaster. To me it is a question about the music. If the music is good the movie is worth watching.
    My favourite Bond-scores are:
01: The Spy Who Loved Me
02: On her Majesty´s Secret Service
    03: Diamonds Are Forever
    04: The Living Daylights
    05: A View To A Kill
06: GoldenEye (A lot will disagree on this one)
The music is what separates the Bondfilms from other actionfilms such as Bourne.
But I don´t like that you don´t like Dalton. Below you´ll see my opinion. The best actor and his films in order of how I like them best:
01: Timothy Dalton (He looks great for the part and he is serious)
02: Daniel Craig (He´s got Dalton´s style. Almost like a copycat. He is cool. He is in good shape)
03: Sean Connery (The look, The strength and his style. He is just perfect but not tough enough)
04: Pierce Brosnan (Somewhat the best looking Bond to date and he was good at action)
05: Roger Moore (He is too light and he brought too much humor into it)
06: (This guy isn´t even an actor)

01: From Russia With Love (Dark and realistic and i love the villains and the locations)
02: Diamonds Are Forever (Like the henchmen and especially the music. Good plot)
03: Licence To Kill (Dalton prooves he has the midas touch. Dark and realistic — Good action)
04: GoldenEye (Greatest casting ever experienced. Good setdesigns and great plot)
05: Casino Royale (The score suck but the action is good. It´s dark and I love the title sequence)
06: The Man With The Golden Gun (Great locations — Best villain in any Bond-movie)
07: The Spy Who Loved Me (Good Set Designs and the best scored Bond movie ever)
08: For Your Eyes Only (Lot of locations and it is great entertainment. Good song)
09: The Living Daylights (Greatest Theme song for any movie. Great plot and Dalton is god)
10: Thunderball (Love the mood. Love the locations… Do you wanna swim? I do)
11: The World Is Not Enough (Somewhat the most thourough plot for any Bondmovie )
12: GoldFinger (Great landscapes. Great villains but the girls arent very interesting)
13: Live And Let Die (Love the locations. Although the plot sucks it´s quite a thrill)
14: On Her Majesty´s Secret Service (Good Music — Lack of suspence and casting)
15: You Only Live Twice (Great sets and music but there is too much action)
16: A View To A Kill (It´s good and I love the music. Love Christopher Walken — Moore is way too old to play the role of Bond… Love the Climax)
17: OctoPussy (Redicolous but interesting — Love the train sequences — worst Bondsong ever)
18: Die Another Day (The first half is good — North Korea and Cuba. The rest is farfetched)
19: Tomorrow Never Dies (What sucks is: The song — The locations — The Sets — The score — The plot — What´s good is the pre credit sequence.… And Brosnan)
20: Moonraker (Rediculous and farfetched — Great music but I hate the song — Too much humor)
21: Dr.No (A lot will disagree but I don´t care. What´s bad is: The music — The effects — the amount of action sequences — The missing pre title sequence — The title sequence itself)

Comment on this one please… And I´m being honest here. Like my own list. Bond is an important man. Take him seriously. Well at least a little.
Hope the Bond 22 will be as good as Casino Royale.

  33. Cody says:

I totally agree with Thee bondfan on a lot of things.
My Best to Worst Bonds List:
1: Timothy Dalton/ He was serious and dark and still had a sense of humor. This was the character that Ian Flemming made. A spy who was serious and lethal. Dalton definetly looks the part of James Bond.
2:Daniel Craig/ He would be at the top of the list, but he still has to prove himself as Bond in Quantum of Solace. But Casino Royale was an amazing triumph, and Craig shows Bond as a cold, lethal assassin, and does a great job with Eva Green. He follows in the footsteps of Dalton, being the character that Ian Flemming created.
3:Peirce Brosnan/ He really looked great as Bond and did some really great action sequences. He really made Bond his own. But Die Another Day was too outlandish and proved that it was time for a change.
4:Sean Connery/ Just because he was the first doesn’t mean he was the best. He should have stopped after Thunderball, because his next two movies were just silly and stupid. Dr.No throught Thunderball were great and started the Bond phenomenon. His movies seemed to be more about the women than the actual mission, with the exception of From Russia With Love. He looked bored and tired in Diamonds are Forever. He did great action though.
5:George Lazenby/ This was a hard decision, seeing as George had only 1 movie, while Roger had seven movies. But i liked OHMSS too much to put him in last place. I thought George was an excellent choice for James Bond, and if he would have done more movies i’d replace Sean with him.
6:Roger Moore/ He acted well enough, and 3 of his movies i really liked. But he put way too much humor into the part and a lot of his movies were just way too silly. He really doesn’t look the part either and he really should have stopped after For Your Eyes Only.

    My Best Bond Movies List:
01: Casino Royale/ Not only my favorite Bond movie, but my favorite movie of all time. Craig does an awesome job. And Eva Green is perfect as Vesper Lynd. A perfect reboot for a series which was starting to get redundant.
02: The Living Daylights/ Dalton is great and brings Bond back to life. Maryam d’Abo works really well with Dalton. Great action and good characters make for a memorable movie.
03: GoldenEye/ A great movie with stunning action sequences and a very good script. Peirce brings a lot of realism to Bond and the bond girls were just right. Not only was it a great movie, it also spawned one of the biggest video game achievments ever. A lot of good memories watching that movie and playing that video game.
04: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service/ George’s only movie, but the story and supporting cast help to ensure that he is remembered as being Bond. He really gave the impression that he was a spy and not some invincible action hero. Diana Rigg was wonderful as Tracy and there was good chemistry between her and Bond. It was obvious that George had a great sense of humor stepping into the role (the line he says at the end of the opening sequence) and he could also be a dramatic and serious actor (the end sequence when Tracy is killed).
05: Licence to Kill/ Dalton does it again and this time he’s dark and dangerous. I loved Q’s involvment in this movie and the great action sequence with the trucks at the end. I really liked how Dalton (in both of his movies) wasn’t out seeking women and sleeping with them. He earned their trust and friendship and didn’t physically force women to make love to him, like Sean and Roger.
06: From Russia With Love/ Sean Connery’s best outing as James Bond. This movie was very realistic and had a deep story. I can see why so many people enjoy this movie and like Sean Connery. I only wish that more of his movies were as great as this one was. I loved the villians in this movie. And i especially loved the fight in the train between Grant and Bond. The Helicopter part was cool too.
07: For Your Eyes Only/ I had to include this movie in the list. This was Roger at his best. He took his role seriously and added the perfect amount of humor and action that every bond movie should have. They ditched the cheesy fantasy crap that Roger was often associated with and created a more real and deep story for Roger to use. It was like From Russia with Love again. Roger wasn’t a dog for once and he played Bond very well. This really should have been his final outing as James Bond.

    My Worst Bond Movie List:
01: A View To A Kill/ Roger was way too old for the part and Grace Jones was a horrible villianess. It was totally unrealistic and boring. The bond girl was a ditz, there’s no way in hell she could be a scientist. The only good thing about the movie was Christopher Walken he was great and that’s it.
02:Moonraker/ Why did they make this movie? They shouldn’t have done this to poor James. He doesn’t deserve it. The whole idea of him going into space was just totally outlandish and Jaws falling in love! What were they thinking. The movie wreaked of sillyness. But i have to say that the skydive part was cool.
03: Die Another Day/ I actually liked this movie, the reason it’s on this list is because they used to much computer animation. And the casting was questionable. The characters weren’t very convincing and it was starting to show that the Bond series was getting watered down.
04:You Only Live Twice/ Way too goofy for my tastes and it’s quite obvious that the Austin Powers series took a lot from this movie, and for good reason. The movie is utterly silly and corny, and the production seems to be of a different quality than the other bond movies. A lower quality that is.
05: Diamonds are Forever/ Sean shouldn’t have come back for the role. He looked bored during the film and there was some strange casting and storyline choices made. Wint and Kidd were gay, that’s just plain stupid. And Bambi and Thumper…who thought of that! It’s way to strange for me. And the unexplained car stunt really put me off. Somehow Bond managed to swing the car on the other two wheels in the alley and come out without damaging the car at all. If the movie had made less production mistakes and change the storyline to get rid of or change a couple of characters. I would have liked the movie a lot more.

Other than those 5 movies i really love the James Bond Series. Those were my personal opinions of the actors and the movies, and i respect everyone elses opinions on the series.
I really like 16 out of the 21 Bond movies. And i think that’s a damn good record for a series that has run for such a long time. James bond is the best action hero there is and i hope the series will prosper for many more years to come.

I would like to add that if you don’t have the Ultimate James Bond DVD Sets 1–4, you should go out and buy them right now! They are loaded with tons of great extras and all the movies were remastered so they all look awesome! Nobody does it better than Bond!!!

I really liked casino royale, the latest james bond movie. I have to see the other movies still, as I have only watched a couple of these.

  35. 4ort says:

I love “The World Is Not Enough”, “GoldenEye”, “From Russia With Love”… “Casino Royale” — very good Bond film too… Best Bond — Pierce Brosnan… Sean Connery, Daniel Craig and Roger Moore — very good Bonds… I don’t like Dalton…

  36. 4ort says:

And I love very much the video game “Everything or Nothing”… great game… Brosnan — the BEST…

  37. connor says:

CASINO ROYAL IS RUBISH,THERES NO GAGETS IN IT, THE OLD BONDS ARE THE BEST, THE BEST ACTOR BY FAR WAS ROGER MOORE… AND THE BEST BOND EVER, IN MY OPINION, IS THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, AS I HAVE THE FULL COLLECTION. :)

  38. Sean says:

yeah, u agree with connor.…casino royal was by far the worst bond film of all!!! and daniel craig is the worst james bond ever! he even looked like an addicted gambler in casino royale when he stressed out to Vesper Lynd(Eva Green) that he needs more money and he wanted to kick the guys ass… the james bond i knew are always cool and relaxed… and he is the only bond when asked how would he like his martini don, he answered with an angry voice “does it look i care how my martini is done?” … WTF!!!! its always martini shaken and not stirred!!!! wheres the spirit of james bond!!!!! i wish Pierce Brosnan never gave the bond film!!! in my opinion he is the best James Bond of all… he is a mix of Sean Connery and Roger Moore.…
i even thought that Clive Owen would make a better James Bond than Daniel Craig… Daniel Craig is more like a Bond Villain than being the Agent!
    James Bond is gettin Boring!!!

  39. Luke H says:

Well what can I say. For a start i love all Bond films. Ye some may be over the top but I mostly like the Roger Moore ones best. (no idea why).

  40. I like Casino Royale the best and Daniel Craig is the best Bond. I don’t care what anyone else thinks about my idea because this is just a string of opinions called a website and after reading all the posts and responses I feel justified in just saying, when it comes on television over and over I actually want to watch it again. I must assume most of you could be older than me (28) and therefor probably have your favorite actors or plots by books. I don’t care what people look like, I don’t care about a formula, cars, women, or anything else. Just pure entertainment. If I wanted the best produced movie I would have asked Stanley Kubrick to make a Bond movie before he died and he would have laughed in my face and said “007 movies are stupid and below me.”

  41. Oh yeah, CODY was on the ball totally!

  42. Oh, and Cody was on the ball with his list

The Bond films received a much needed reboot in ‘Casino Royale’. Bond needs to get with the millenium, and does so here exceptionally.
The next Bond film, Quantum of Solace, takes place almost immediately after ‘Casino Royale’ ended, so any unanswered questions may be dealt with here, such as: Mathis, Vesper Lynd’s treachery,Bond:Year One continuing,M’s trust issues w/Bond,etc..

I think that you did an excellent capsul review and rankings of the titles.

    Thanks for the information.

  45. Samej Nobd says:

Okay, man, the greatest Bond film is Thunderball. It’s common knowledge. Yes, Moonraker sucked, But, Tommorow Never Dies doesn’t deserve to be on the worst list. Liscence To Kill was okay. Yeah it was dark and Felix’s leg was bitten off and his wife died, but it’s pretty good.

  46. ian lancaster fleming says:

it’s really interesting reading everyone’s opinions as to the “best and worst” films/actors etc.
I guess we have to agree to disagree that it’s all personal opinion. I have my own ideas, and i see that some of you have the same as me, and some don’t.…but at least let me say this as far as “Casino Royale” goes…
when I first saw it, I thought the movie was pretty good but wasn’t sure about Daniel Craig. The more i watch it though, the more he grows on me.… As someone who is a fan of Bond from reading the original Fleming books, I still don’t think he is as Fleming imagined him…ex naval officer etc. But I CAN see him perhaps as an ex SAS type.…
and okay, he may not be conventionally good looking, the way Brosnan and Moore and the the others are, but he obviously has a ruggedness and sex appeal about him. Just ask any number of women! Lets see what happens with “Quantum of Solace”…I’m quite interested. (By the way…no “Q”? Okay, he wasn’t in all the books…in fact he was 2 separate people in the books..the armourer
who provided Bond with guns…Major Boothroyd, and the un named head of Q division (quartermaster} who provided the other gadgets.… but no Moneypenny???? C’MON!!

If you see first time the old James Bond movies, with Sir Sean Connery, then you cannot imagine Daniel Craig in this act :)
