Added Polls, Stock Photography

February 12th, 2007

WebomaticaI’m playing around with a poll module (Democracy), just to get some more user feedback. About two weeks ago when I upgraded to WordPress 2.1, I got some helpful comments. So I’m moving on to asking folks about some other stuff I’m planning for this blog. I figure I’ll leave each poll up for a week to get some useful information.

The first question is in regards to what artist I should do another career-wide, song-by-song evaluation as I did with the Beatles and the Bangles. Maybe you have some better ideas.

The second thing I’ve been working on is swapping all the template images on this blog out with stock photography. I found a couple of good sites, namely iStockPhoto and sxc.hu. I found a blog post that had a whole list of some good resources… I’ll add that to this post later.

In other news, the WP Amazon plug in and WP Cache have both been upgraded to work with WordPress 2.1. Those were the last two plug ins that I was waiting for. The WP Amazon plug in has been AJAXified and is kind of cool (although it doesn’t work in Safari). The WP Cache plug in is essential for high traffic situations like digg.

I’ve been using flickr CC and wikimedia commons for Harold. Followed up with a Google Image search for something more obscure.

I have to accept the fact that Harold will never legally be a book. :)

There was another stock photo site I tried that had free images but after using it for a week I never found anything good from it.
