Apple: What I’m Looking Forward To In Leopard

February 9th, 2007

A rumor over at ThinkSecret suggests Leopard may ship in late March. I’m skeptical, but still – bring it on; I’m ready! Some of the cooler things I’m looking forward to with this release:

Spaces: The virtual desktop capability, so you can stick all your web apps on one, and actual work stuff on another, and switch between them easily. You can also drag and drop windows from one space to the other. Right now I’m trying to watch a James Bond film, type this post, load Safari with pages, and do my taxes all at once. I need freaking spaces!

Time Machine: I have an external drive that I back up to, but I really don’t do it often enough. Anybody who’s had an internal hard drive die knows the pain of losing everything. Making back ups automatic will be both a time and a life saver.

Safari 3.0: There was one trick shown at MacWorld, with the new version of Safari that I’m drooling for: Web Clips. It’s in the first paragraph on this page. You can basically grab part of a web page and turn it into a dashboard widget. Check out a good overview of what else is cool in Safari 3.0 here at Musings from Mars.

Whenever the ship date is, I’ll be sure to stop by an Apple Store and pick up a copy.
