Macworld Saves Steve Jobs

January 4th, 2007

AppleThere was an article in the San Jose Mercury today outlining a shareholder lawsuit against Apple regarding this continuing Steve Jobs options thing. There is also an added wrinkle of some options that Jobs had at Pixar.

However, the timing of this negative press couldn’t be better. Next week is Macworld, where Jobs takes the stage and in his personal, masterful way, demonstrates all the cool new stuff from Apple, laying rumors to rest, blowing away the competition, and boosting Jobs’ image every time he says “boom“. And in this lead up to MacWorld, with the predictions and potential product lists flying about, Apple’s stock price chugs along nicely, without any whiff of trouble.

The bottom line is, the image of Steve Jobs and Apple is in large part created by the iCEO strutting the stage next week, bottle of water in one hand and a remote control for Keynote in the other. And that’s an awesome position to be in if you’re Steve Jobs. He controls the conversation about Apple as soon as the presentation starts, and the odds are high that it will be nothing but positive.
