We used to load SpyHunter, then when it popped up and asked for the password, we would replace the floppy with Strip Poker. When you entered in the password it gave a menu of Suzi and Melissa in all the stages of exposure. Choose your favorite and it would flash in the screen upon reboot. Oh to be 11 and horny again.

Other favs - One on One, Prince of Persia, Hardball, Archon, Raid Over Moscow, and Dave's Midnight Magic.

Your blog brings back green and amber flashes of 1984-1986 when I flirted with a IIe clone(taiwan or hongkong-made?).It was the grand machine to flaunt at home for a generation that generally thought computers were all Ibusiness machines. Quarter century ago lifes choices were so simpler we didnt want more than what we had. Using appleworks or CP/M card for the home office with 80 columns screen and 128k memory, after a days work you could simply plug your RGB out to a TV and ride an F15 strike eagle to Libya(nobody cared for resolution/refresh factors). Audio realism came from a mockingboard adaptor card or internal speakers. Does anyone have pixs of working Apple IIes?

I also remember playing Tai Pan and buying and selling cocaine - trying to smuggle it in without being caught. Or worse, getting into debt and having your henchmen slowly killed off if you fail to pay your debt on time.

There was another game about travelling between stars but I can't remember the name of it. There were planets called 'Utopia', 'Alhambra', Eventide', Farside' etc. You could build ships, sleep, battle other planets in an effort to build your alliance. Any ideas on what this game was called? I used to totally love it.

I played Lode Runner every day at lunchtime in the school computer room until I could see the little man running around when I closed my eyes! I knew then that I'd over done it! Serpentine was another favourite.

I have to add some:<br>The search for the most important thing in the universe (an awesome game but boy were we unimpressed with the ending!), Gruds in Space, Sherwood Forest Adventure, Chivalry, (the first) Castle Wolfenstein, The Summer Olympic Games, Montezuma's Revenge... Thanks for the memories! Yes I still have my IIe in a box downstairs. I'm trying to figure out how to extract data from the 5" floppy disks!

Wow, does this bring back memories! I'd spend half of Saturday at the local library swapping games with others, then play all week. My favorites were Ultima III, IV, Stellar 7, Lode Runner, Aztec, Karateka and Drol.
I briefly got into the Zork series, which was actually pretty cool for a text-only game.
Sadly, the //e with the green screen ended up in the trash many years later, along with about 300 disks full of games. Kind of wishing I would have hung onto it....

Thanks for the memories!

This is an awesome page! Nice memories. I always played Bloody Murder, Pulsar, Blaster and almost all the time the freakin eagle from karateka kicked my butt.

The games you listed up there are not Apple IIe games.
They are all just Apple II games which are not in Double Hi Res Mode.
I want to see Apple IIe (or //e) games only.

Was it Conan?

..."Then was a room with lava and bubbles you could ride up. Finally you could take on the evil witch"

Actually, I do remember playing this game. It was called Conan: Hall of Volta .

Do you remember or are you aware of a graphics adventure game that, at one point, consisted of a guy jumping into a bubble to float to a certain rock ledge (or something like that) on the screen. It came out in about 1982 or about the same time as karateka. It was a fantasy themed game and I cant remember the name of it to save my life.

Yknow what would be awesome - if the iPod could be turned into a //e emulator. I'm sure the chip could handle all these old games.

I think with Ultima, there were just so many and they kept getting better and better. I 'll check out Rescue Raiders (emulation!)

Rescue Raiders over Choplifter any day... but dang is Rescue Raiders hard. Escape from Castle Wolfenstein, F15 Strike Eagle, Silent Service and Stellar 7 were some of my favorites (along with Karateka, one of the few games I actually bought, and Mario Bros.). I was more of a Wizardry player than Ultima, but I loved them both.
