I started this blog in 2006 (and only really in earnest during the latter half), and like all new adventures there’s a lot to learn. New to me were all sorts of terms like “search engine optimization (SEO)”, “link building (or “link bait”)”, and “social networking”. Anyhow, here’s a pretty awesome list of resources at Techipedia for further reading if you’re into this subject.

Personally, I’ve found building a blog’s reputation to be a challenge that while continually entertaining, is rather like herding cats. If you’re “link building” in a legitimate manner, ultimately you don’t decide whether anybody links back to you.

So really, after the technical aspects are taken care of, the only thing to do as a blogger is serve up some quality content and let the cards fall where they may. Thankfully, after glancing at my most trafficked posts, things seem to be moving in that general direction of quality over stupidity - no Paris Hilton!
