Celebrity Blogging Bitch Fest: Mark Cuban, Rosie, Trump, Valleywag

December 22nd, 2006

TechnologyTo say blogging is a trendy thing is to say Wisconsin has snow: obvious. Still, I can’t help but laugh a bit to see celebrities getting in on the game. And a media article about celebrity blogging is pretty pithy - kind of like those lists of what songs George Bush has on their iPod.

So today I chuckled a bit at this Mark Cuban post on his blog, dissing Donald Trump’s blog, while praising Rosie O’Donnel’s blog. Cuban notes that Rosie’s is honest and whoever is running it has some tech smarts, while Cuban uses Trump’s blog as a launching point to rant about how much Donald Trump sucks.

To me, both of these blogs leave much to be desired, but hey, I’m not anywhere near as busy as any celebrity. But then again, if I were independently wealthy, I’d probably hire a professional writer to run things for me. I’d just verbally ramble each morning with a coffee in one hand and a toothbrush in the other, and let my ghost writer flesh things out.

Either way, I think more celebrities should start blogs. Wil Wheaton has been blogging for some time. Here’s a strange one from Melanie Griffith. William Shanter blogs on his website. Here’s a link to a slew of famous-person blogs. And here’s a pretty good rundown of what you can read on these celebrity blogs (from Salon). But why not let it all hang out - I’d like to see the Mel Gibson blog.

Then there are technology blogs. Valleywag names some of the ones everyone is reading. And if you haven’t gotten enough of that, there’s always the Technorati 100.

Blog, blog, blog, everyone has a blog! We’ll know Web 2.0 has run its course when George Bush starts one.
