Retro Lisa Video
I wasn’t expecting much with this video demonstration of the Lisa (an old pre-Macintosh computer from Apple), but I got pretty sucked into it. It’s from 1984 and this dude is demoing all the new features, which at that time, was stuff like opening a program, moving stuff around the desktop, and resizing windows - all things that today seem totally simplistic and obvious, but at this time twenty years ago it was totally new.
So it’s funny hearing the lady he’s demoing this stuff to say things like “do that again it happened too fast!” and how he explains a mouse as an upside down trackball.
It’s pretty interesting to me to realize that this was only twenty years ago and the technology is pretty primitive. Just redrawing a page on the screen - you can see the processor whirring.
Oh, and you can skip the guy talking in the first part of the video (that was filmed recently). Not sure why he added that.
Disclosure: I own a tiny amount of Apple stock.
