Battlestar GalacticaMeh, I get what the creators of the show were going for here, some kind of intimate recap and establishment of the current emotional state of some major characters, told via some back-story flashbacks, but I wasn’t buying it.

First off, boxing? How about flying in spaceships or some futuristic sport we don’t know about? And how does Roslyn know about boxing? She was doling out advice to Adama as if she had a moonlighting gig as a trainer.

The only bit of interesting information is that Starbuck and Lee had some fun back on New Caprica, but for whatever reason (most likely fear) Kara couldn’t make it real. So now they beat the crap out of each other in a boxing ring… okay, that’s really mature. The soap opera-y “who’s in love with who” aspect of Battlestar Galactica I never found interesting.

Meanwhile, I missed the parallel story of Baltar back on the Cylon base star, hot and heavy with two Cylon babes. I got to have at least some dose of the Baltar.

This was the first episode of Battlestar Galactica this season I’m ho-hum about (and would almost say it was bad). Judging from the schedule that there are only two more episodes until the mid-season halfway break, I’m hoping the next two are back to the high Galactica standards.

    Yeah this episode mostly sucked. I did like Adama's little speech and his weird lesson, though it seemed like an absurd way to make the point.

    But I was also bugged by the fact that they were boxing. Isn't it insane to allow your best solidiers to pound the crap out of each other and risk concussions or worse? Equally funny was the fact that the (chain-smoking) doctor was on hand to make sure nobody got too hurt...lol.

    My biggest gripe with this episode was that even though there are some long-term story arcs explored, this episode felt more like a self-contained, stand-alone. Especially given the recent plot twists. This was almost a bizarre step away from the current narrative. Definitely a black sheep kind of episode. Oh well. In a 24 episode season there are bound to be some lemons. At least the BSG lemons still have some enjoyable moments.

    I also expected Roslyn and Adama to bust out post-coital cigarettes at one point, though it seems they only hung out together and didn't actually do any "frakking".

    D rocks - she deserves batter than to be jerked around by a guy who still pines some some messed up chick like Starbuck. It's not that I don't like Starbuck, in some ways I think she's awesome, but I'd take Duala (sp?) anyday.

    Didn't like this episode (or that last one, Hero) much at all.

    I did find that kinda odd... I guess there arent' any other major characters (especially female) around Adama's age so it makes the mind wonder.

    Dualla is kind of a mystery to me... don't really recall much character development on her part (about her past). I think the most awesome part about her character is she's really steadfast on the bridge while all the men get strange (Tigh) or fat (Adama).

    Maybe you should have paid attention to the episode. Most of your questions are actually answered in the episode itself.

    The episode was great, if you've got a brain.

    Roslyn knows about boxing because her dad was an avid fan.

    But yeah, I agree, nobody watches BSG for the romantic stuff, and this is nothing but romantic stuff.
