I’m not much of a gamer (still getting mileage out of my PS2) but there’s just so much nutty PlayStation 3 and Wii crap out there today that I figure I should post some gratuitous links.

First, a video showing two Japanese men going door to door inviting people to play with their Wii (yeah that sounds gross). Then, a guy in a Wii costume flipping off people waiting for a PS3 (this reminds me of the Triumph the insult dog video where Spock comes out and flips off the Star Wars fans). Next, a report of people shot at with a BB gun while waiting in line at a Best Buy, plus some people robbed at gunpoint. Here, a dentist hired temps to get him a PS3 and John Edwards (the politician) personally asked for a PS3. People had their cars broken into. Two people are trampled in Fresno. Some people smash a PS3 because they got one, and they are mean. And lastly, a riot at a Best Buy. Meanwhile, PlayStation 3s on eBay are supposedly climbing up into the thousands of dollars. Seriously.

I just have to say this: It’s just a game console. The exact same type of hardware that you’ll find in your local Goodwill several years from now for $20. The exact same console that people were ripping on just a few months ago for having crappy technology and being way too expensive. This insane opening day bid-up after so many haters reminds me of the Google IPO.

Still, it’s funny seeing people cuckoo for cocoa-puffs.
