Goldfinger is the all time best. No doubt.

I’m one of the few people (there’s 10 of us) who actually like Tomorrow Never Dies, It’s not the greatest movie, but the song is actually quite good to listen to on it’s own. Die Another Day was horrible. Goldeneye was poo. The World is Not Enough was decent. If they didn’t run out of ideas for Pierce Brosnan’s bond then the films would have been better and not so cheesy. — That’s my opinion.

I completely disagree with this list. I absolutely love all the bond theme songs from licence to kill to die another day. I especially love love love Madonna's Die Another Day, Sheryl Crow's Tomorrow Never Dies, Tina Turner's Goldeneye, Garbage's The World Is Not Enough & Gladys Knight's Licence To Kill. I actually hate most of the old bond theme songs with the exception of the brilliant Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger & Diamonds Are Forever, John Barrys's awesome James Bond Theme, Matt Munro's romatic from Russia With Love & Carly Simon's flawless Nobody does it Better. My Absolute worst bond song is proberly the most sucessful & thats A View To Kill by Duran Duran. It's just plain f--king awful, absolutely hate hate hate it.

My opinions rarely mirror others, but each to their own. For me the best 5.

1) On Her Majesty’s Secret Service — This for me is the definitive, what it may lack for in vocals it more than makes up for with the ‘Bondesque’ atmosphere it creates. Strong and memorable tune.

2) Goldfinger — The classic, enough said.

3) The Living Daylights — So although Dalton is my least favourite Bond, I can’t knock the song, but I like the whole 80s sound.

4) A View to A Kill — Maybe not as Bondy as the Bassey songs, but it is certainly an apt song for the series.

5) Diamonds Are Forever — Bassey again (the film was awful, possibly the worst of the entire series for me),

(Memorable note also goes to — You Only Live Twice, For Your Eyes Only, From Russia With Love, The Man With the Golden Gun, Moonraker, Live and Let Die, Casino Royal, All Time High and of course Nobody does it better.)

Worst Songs.

1) A Quantum of Solace — This without doubt is absolutely awful, just when I thought nothing could kick Tom Jones of the top spot here.

2) Thunderball — I can’t stand Tom Jones and this hurts my ears to listen to, I always skip it on the Bond soundtrack and I rarely watch this film because I hate this song so much.

3) Die Another Day — Another awful theme tune.

4) The World is Not Enough — Not great.

5) License to Kill — The only thing I dislike about this is that Franklin sounds like she’s saying ‘License to Kilt’, maybe she was showing her appreciation for Sean Connery? That said though it’s not intrinsically a bad song.

one bond song i think is underrated is Goldeneye by tina turner. it’s a very sexy song and tina turner does a great job. after that song it was all stinkers until casino royale.

I would like to nominate "Another Way To Die" by Alicia Keys & Jack White for Quantum of Solace. It is horrible, painful, and surely doesn't suit the movie. It makes "Die Another Day" by Madonna sound like "Goldfinger."

The best Bond songs are just like the films, they started off really good and then slowly declined as the years have gone on, just compare Dr NO theme to 'die another day' and also with the films compare 'from russia with love' to 'tomorrow never dies' can you see the similarity's.

I’ve seen this Casino Royal a few times and I just love, I mean I have a man crush on this song. Chris Cornell has an amazing voice. IMO its number 2, behind Live and Let Die.

Hi, your list is quite okay. But I have to disagree with you a few times.
The man with the golden gun– I think, it has a very good theme.
A view to a kill– certainly one of the best songs!!! Classic spy song.
Octopussy-great song, reflects the seventies. It sounds to me like the sequel to ‘Nobody does it better´and ´For your eyes only´. A Roger Moore song.
Madonna-that´s absolutely no Bond song. Worst song.
Aha– not so bad!!!
Chris Cornell rocks!

For Your Eyes Only,Live and Let Die,and Goldfinger are classics.I admit I haven’t heard or can’t remember some but I find it hard to believe there is anything worse than the song from Octopussy.As for the Cornell song ‚its a good song it just too new to be given proper credit.

The Chris Cornell theme seems to be love it or hate it. Personally I reckon it’s one of the best because:

- it’s angry (so is the new Bond)
– The lyrics actually have some meaning (for a change)
– David Arnold has been true to John Barry with the horns and melody
– It just plain rocks (in my opinion)

I’ve even been playing it to a ‘hater’ ; after a couple of beers I admit; and he’s starting to love the track.

My other fave themes : You Only Live Twice, Goldfinger, OHMSS (2 tracks), The Spy Who Loved Me and License to Kill (despite the film being a bit pants).

Alice Cooper wrote a theme for 'The Man With The Golden Gun', (it's on their 1974 'Muscle Of Love' album) which was seriously considered but declined in favour of the Lulu song. It wasn't that great, more a pastiche than an inspired effort (same goes for Chris Cornell's new one for Casino Royale). The Lulu song really isn't that bad, it's just set to a remarkably clumsy arrangement (suits a remarkably clumsy film, though). The best? Unquestionably 'You Only Live Twice'. Worst is probably Madonna's thing and then Garbage's anaemic travesty.

My favorites are Goldfinger, Lous Armstrong’s All the time in the world, Moonraker themse, and the Octopussy theme. Worst is Maddonas song, and Garbage. The latest themse from Casino isnt bad. Kinda reminds me of the old bond songs.

Well live and let die is my number one but I will make my case for A-ha’s The Living Daylights,On there own they play it live fantastic,lots of Guitars and not too much Synths.…So there you go!!Sometimes He who follows the crowd gets no further! A-ha are still together!!

Hi Ben, that is just a matter of personal taste (well, isn’t everything when it comes to reviews) — I think I prefer the old female crooning style of Goldfinger. Maybe the Chris Cornell song is a bit too new and I just have to listen to it more?
