Turkish Star Trek

October 9th, 2006

Okay… I can’t resist. Consider it a celebration of YouTube spending millions on Amici’s pizza.

Actually, I’d been wanting to see this for a long time, ever since a friend forced convinced me to watch Turkish Star Wars against my will. Well, not against my will, I actually laughed pretty hard at that ridiculousness as well.

Anyhow, here’s the link. This is an obvious rip-off of the early Trek episode The Man Trap.

  • Man, you make it sound like I tortured you by screening this film! :-)

Anyway, for folks interested in Turkish Star Wars, here's a Wikipedia entry:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%BCnyay%C4%B1_...

I just noticed that the article mentions a SEQUEL being filmed right now for this film (!) No joke. Here's what it says:

"After many attempts to gather the former actors of the film to create a sequel to the "The Man Who Saves The World", the efforts have given birth to the film "The Son of the Man Who Saves the World" being recorded in 2006. The name of the movie was subject to great debates, where the loyalists supported the title "The Man Who Saves The World Again" against the current title. However the main actor, Cuneyt Arkin (aka Fahrettin Cureklibatur) has put an end to these debates. The movie is still being recorded, and the continuation of the legend will meet its fans in late 2006. The special effects in the trailer were eye-filling, but the fans expressed their disapproval of not remaining loyal to the original movie, where all the space scenes were ripped directly from the sci-fi classics of the time such as Star Wars IV: A New Hope, Star Trek series and Battlestar Galactica. Famous actors from Turkey such as Mehmet Ali Erbil will also take part in the project, but the genre of the film is subject to change and it is thought to be more of a comedy than sci-fi, another thing the fans are dissatisfied with. The fact that Kartal Tibet directs the film is another astounding aspect of the would-be-classic."
  • Ok, I'm gonna apologize for this in advance.

Here's the trailer for Turkish Star Wars 2:

I hate to admit it, but the f/x look pretty good. The real treat is near the end. Look for one of the original heroes (he's big and fat now) doing his signature 2-handed chopping move.
  • Heh... well I think Turkish Star Wars could be used to extract information from people... either because they can't stand it or they double over in physical pain from the laughter.

Turkish Spock is a whole 'nother thing. I still can't understand the guys in the speedos at the end of the show.
  • Hehehh... Turkish Star Wars 2 looks like the best fan film ever... the special effects definitely got an upgrade!

Same guy, much older, doing the same chopping moves... freaking hilarious!

    Hiya:)
    Thanks for the post.
I've been a long time fan of DKA (Dunyayi Kurtaran Adam a.k.a Turkish Star Wars).
If you re interested in this movie, also check out "3 Dev Adam" which means "3 Mighty Men" a.k.a "Turkish Spider Man" made in 1973 (compared to DKA made in 1982). Also the 2nd Hero (Ali played by Aytekin Akkaya) from DKA is also in the movie.
The movie stars "Spiderman" "Captain America" and the Mexican Wrestler "Santo" with a lot of surprises, I won't spoil it for you :P
