Apple’s Special Showtime Event

September 11th, 2006

Pretty good summation at Techcrunch of all the rumors and predictions for tomorrow’s special event. I’m sticking by my earlier predictions. It’s too early for an Apple iPhone.

I think the Amazon Unbox slip-up provides a great opportunity for Apple to fly in, poke a few holes at Amazon, and demonstrate how their service is so much better. I’m thinking it comes down to less intrusive DRM and a cheaper price point for lower quality. I really hope it’s spun as a rental service.

Anyhow, tomorrow is the big day; it’ll be hard to resist jumping off the bus on the way to work to peek into Yerba Buena and see what’s up. But most likely, I’ll see tons of Apple billboards and ads on Market Street on my bus ride home… or even sneak into the Apple Store downtown on my lunch break.
