Bottle Cap-O-Rama, General Website Tweaking
Taking a day off to make a nice, round four day weekend, and what better way to spend the morning but tweaking things on my website(s) regarding things that have been bugging me but that I haven’t had the time to address.
First, I’m behind on uploading all the new, unique bottle caps I’ve received in the past month to Bottle Cap-O-Rama. It’s a pretty straightforward process but a bit tedious as I have to scan in piles of bottle caps, crop, and rotate. The next hard step is identifying each bottle cap, at the very least the country of origin, and ideally the bottle cap’s drink and company that made said drink. I’ve gotten up to speed where I can to about 16 in one sitting. I’m sure I could do a whole lot more (I think I did 50 in one day once) but it’s not much fun and I must maintain the “fun” factor regarding bottle caps. Anyhow, the site has been growing at a steady pace and I’m well on track to hit 1,000 bottle caps by year’s end.
The related task that has become progressively more time consuming is answering bottle cap related emails. I seem to get one or two every other day and usually it’s about a trade (which can be diverted to this list) although I’ve fielded questions about unknown bottle cap identification, to where to buy ginger beer, or whether there are any actual fruit in Mike’s Hard Lemonade. I don’t mind answering these questions; it just takes time. The trades in particular are loads of fun as I get to see exotic bottle caps from around the world and converse with people who are also interested in this hobby.
I also need to do some tweaking to this webomatica site. I want to get the link color a bit more obvious. Likewise with Bottle Cap-O-Rama, some of the art isn’t quite right and other elements are just in the wrong places.
