Apple’s iPhone

From Apple Insider:
“Apple Computer chief executive Steve Jobs has been boasting about his company’s much-rumored iPod cell phone amongst inner circles, AppleInsider has been told. An informant has said the device is slated to turn up earlier than some people may be expecting, in the form of a “big bang” introduction that will catch even some insiders off-guard.”
I’ll just say that currently we’re thinking about getting a cell phone (maybe two) and the wealth of plans, types of phones, contracts, service plans, and networks is frustrating. Specifically, you sometimes get a phone for free, sometimes not, and contracts are still sometimes 1 year, 2 years, no years, with unlimited minutes, etc. You know what I’m talking about.
What I would really like Apple to do is somehow cut out all the BS. Let’s just have hardware, a phone, which you buy, and a monthly fee for unlimited anything you want to do, be it phone or internet or whatever. Also, let me sync the phone with my Macintosh for all the MP3s, files, addresses and whatever. Do that and I’m sold.
The next icing on the cake would be Apple’s ease of use UI. Just make everything as simple or similar to the iPod. A dial wheel and menus. Done deal.
By doing these two things, Apple will already have done wonders to clear up the clutter and annoying conflicting unknowns which is the current cell-phone scene, based on years of adding layers of service onto already existing layers. It’s time to blow all that stuff away and start with something new and fresh and simple… which is what Apple did to MP3 players with the iPod. Do that and they have a huge hit on their hands. I have faith Apple can do it, too.
