Firefox Extensions

August 6th, 2006

TechnologyI’ve been using Firefox on and off on the Mac. Here’s a short list of extenstions, add ons, and plug ins I’ve found useful.

GrApple is a great theme that makes Firefox look more Safari-like. Another option is to use Firefoxy which loads in different form graphics, again making Firefox look a bit more Mac friendly.

Web Developer is another extension I love, giving you options for fiding what CSS is being used where, image informaton, validation tools, and many more tools I haven’t even begun to explore. The above mentioned GrApple theme even tweaks the Web Developer tool bar to make it nicer-looking.

Video Downloader lets you download videos off of YouTube. Basically when you are on a page with a YouTube video you like, click the icon in the lower right corner of the browser window and you get a download link. You’ll have to rename the file to an .flv (Flash Video) extetnsion.

Once I get the video downloaded, I’ve been using iSquint to convert the FLVs to a more Mac-friendly format or even to put on my iPod Video.
