MacBook Tip: Two Finger Scrolling with One Finger

July 31st, 2006

One cool feature of the MacBook is its scroll-wheel functionality, activated by dragging two fingers across the trackpad. It’s able to recognize when two fingers are placed and moved on it.

The tip is that only one finger needs to be moving in order to act as a scroll. Meaning, it will scroll if you place your middle finger on the track pad and stroke with your pointer finger. Similarly, if you just place a left finger on the track pad and stroke with one finger of the right hand, it will also work.

This tip may prove useful if you’re getting tired of stroking with two fingers and want a change of pace. Sorry if that sounds a bit gross.

It's not designed to be used this way. It works much better when you use two fingers in parallel,

    That's what she said. :P

Anyway I agree with this guy. But thanks for the alternate choice. everyone likes to do things differently. Maybe to avoid thats what she said jokes change stroking with two fingers to-stroking the touchpad with two fingers

thanks for sharing this - I was getting fed up with stroking with two fingers and was wondering why everyone was raving about it. keeping one finger still is much simpler and easier way to scroll.
