Freaking Hot
The past weekend was around 100 degrees where we live, and even with a first floor apartment and a fan cranking at full blast, you sweat sitting in place. Of course, we were moving into our new apartment and carrying boxes of crap to and from a hot car. The cats are a good temperature gauge, as they spent most of the weekend splayed out on the cool tile in our small bathroom. I can’t imagine how the heat affects a furry animal.
As a result, today there were some worries that the power would go out in California. Two of my co-workers had the power go out at their homes over the weekend. Now that would really suck, sweltering heat and no power to drive a fridge or AC. Just keep that in mind as another potential effect of global warming: power outages in cities that are unable to keep up with people’s energy wasting demands to keep cool.
