Apple’s Education iMac

July 5th, 2006

AppleI’ll be the first to applaud Apple for its new education iMac. At a nice price under a thousand clams, it pretty much serves up the basics of an iMac computer. The differences between it and the base model iMac are no DVD burning, a smaller hard drive, and no graphics card. Not really deal-breakers for anyone looking to get a budget Mac. In fact, I might even pony up for one. We have a flat-panel iMac G4 that is certainly feeling long in the tooth in comparison to my MacBook.

One of the hopes with Apple moving to Intel chips was that it could price its computers more affordably. I hope this iMac is a sign this is possibly coming to pass.
