The Da Vinci Code Book, Game, Movie, etc.
May 6th, 2006
Got hooked on the Da Vinci Code Google quest for the past few weeks, basically small, daily puzzles that are variations on 5 puzzles: Sudoku, 3 question multiple choice quiz, “restoration”, chess, and hanging paintings on hooks. The puzzles have been increasing in difficulty and we’re in the last week.
I guess it was the intent of the promotion to make one want to see the movie, and I read the book itself yesterday and today. It’s a pretty standard thriller-type quest novel, and a pretty concise and easy read. Ideal for a plane ride. My only complaints are minor, in that there’s a “surprise” dealing with identity that’s a bit cliched, and some of the religious conspiracy theories are hard to swallow, namely the few paragraphs about Disney filling his animated movies with Isis references. Sorry, I can only suspend my disbelief so far. But I’m still looking forward to the film and the end of this web quest, for sure.
