Apple Dual Boot Via “Boot Camp”
This is a bit of software that for me at least, fulfills the promise of the Intel in Macintosh transition: Boot Camp. It basically allows one to install Windows XP on an Intel Mac and have said machine boot either OS. This is huge. And the kicker: this technology will be incorporated into Mac OS 10.5.
I’m one of the fence-straddlers in that I use Macs at home but prefer Windows at work, where there are several programs that I use regularly that are Windows only. Also, I find copying files and file sharing in general to be annoyingly glitchy when a Mac tries to access a PC network. And lastly there are the games. None of these three reasons are killers for me at home, nor do they necessitate buying a PC, but the idea of being able to boot Windows occasionally would be a godsend. I think it will do wonders to getting more people to switch.
Now just release the Intel iBook already; please? At least my order is guaranteed.
Disclosure: I own a tiny amount of Apple stock.
