Mac Movie Service?
March 1st, 2006
Check out this supposed survey of a potential Apple movie download service.
I’d have to check out the selection of course, but the 10 bucks per month for unlimited downloads would be pretty darned sweet. I currently have a NetFlix account, and while that works out pretty well, the wait from mailing in a DVD and waiting for the next one is already getting a bit tired. I’ve watched some TV shows downloaded from the Apple music store on the TV via a video iPod and it’s decent enough quality. The fact of the matter is, I see many movies as clearly in the “rent” vs. “own” vs. “see in the theater” category, and the vast majority are in the “rent”. See it once, then return it, or in the hopeful iTunes Video model, watch it once, and delete it. So the option to buy a movie for about $12 bucks does kind of leave me cold, but I doubt I would use it much with the set-up they propose. I say Apple should go for it.
