All About Love

Nobody’s perfect but we like sometimes to think it
When I’m falling at her feet I’m perfectly a mess
“Oh,” she says, “There’s someone for you”
“Oh,” I say, “I thought it was you”
So it’s a bad idea to mix friendship and pleasure even if she measures up
I don’t want to know all about love
Let’s take a listen to the radio psychologist
We’ve got a caller whose lover sleeps around
“Oh,” she cries, “but I don’t want to break his heart”
“Well,” (the reply) “someone’s sure to fix him up”
So every evening ’til the end of all humanity
She’ll take the same old questionnaire
I don’t want to know all about love
I don’t want to talk about it
“I’m coming over or maybe going downtown.”
“We can see a movie or just sit around and talk”
“Oh,” I say “I thought you wanted to go somewhere”
“Yeah,” she says, “somewhere without you”
So I play the happy housewife with a frying pan in one hand
and cigarettes for dinner but at least I’m being true…
Darling don’t you know it’s all about love
I don’t want to talk about it

Revolving Door

Think about the meaning in what you just said
Are you all that certain you want me dead?
So do I, so do I want to be apart
Breaking up the china we bought at the start
I’m glad we had this heart to heart
Pick a partner play pretend
Knowing all good things must end
Break it off become my friend
So we could fall in love again
Like a revolving door
Realize the feeling was close enough (I’m sorry I hurt you)
Maybe on a holiday you’d call it love (let’s kiss and make up)
So do I, so do I it’s good to agree
Yeah, I was quite stupid to set you free
How could we have been apart?
In this way we realize love’s a form of compromise (can’t we ever get it right)
And though the heart may move out of view (don’t you want to stay in love?)
It seems to still revolve ’round you like a revolving door
But after time you say,
“Okay and get out of it and tell her that she can’t tell you her secrets anymore…
“I can see the street from here but you’ve got us locked inside”
“Are you taking me for a ride? I want to settle down… are you coming with me?”
“We’ve got some work to do. Are you going to get married to me?”
“I could always walk out the door.”
“You’ve got to make a choice:
Be a man or stay a boy, spinning in your idea of love:
Your revolving door.”

Your Passionate World

I’ve been looking for love in a number of ways
But I can’t seem to find it in one place
When I said I was lonely you turned it around
When you said “There is love in what you’ve already found”
Could it be that I can’t talk to you anymore?
What am I supposed to do?
Sitting here on the bus we’re going downtown
Looking for books or what’s here on the ground
So you ask “will you miss me when you go away?”
Well with that kind of line what am I supposed to say?
You know I really don’t care if our love doesn’t stay
What am I supposed to do in your passionate world?
If you cannot see my point of view what’s the use in spending all my time with you?
What’s the use in trying to explain to you that I don’t want to know…
Now I’m too far away to even pretend
That you try to take comfort in your paper and pen
When you send me a letter I see how you hide
The romantic feelings that could hurt your pride
Yet you say I’m dishonest it’s all I can do
What am I supposed to do in your passionate world?

Black Hole

Shining through a summer dress
Laughing though you’re so distressed
Trudging through the sorry mess we call life
Far beyond your eyes galaxies imbue the sky
Destiny is clearly wrought in singularity
When all is said and done will infinity reduce to one?
For we trust what we perceive though we’re ruled by entropy
So you live your life in holes of what we can and can’t control
’til everything is lost within your fragile soul
Some odd years ago a stellar rendezvous performed
But in the larger scheme of things was it all that much?
When all is said and done will our words negate the sum?
All we’re sure to know could be lost in fragile sol
You could define it in quantum probabilities some sort of higher equation
Controlling me
I’ll live and die within your bold gravity
Black hole

Girl From Washington

Girl, how long must I behave to fall in love where I’d love to stay
I never understood modern love now I believe until I’ve had enough
When I looked into your eyes I saw a part of me inside
Should we consider (before we allow)
All of the eyes looking at us now?
‘Cause I’m in love with you, the girl from Washington
When I felt you take my hand I knew at once I could understand
All of the poetry that we wrote
All of the silly things in your note
Tell me what you want to hear or whisper nothings in my ear
I never thought we’d have anything now I am open to everything
‘Cause I’m in love with you the girl from Washington

Boy / Girl

Boy, I want to stay with you
Boy, I’ll give my heart to you
You’ve been a long time coming around
Girl, I want to stay with you
Girl, I’ll live my life for you
I’ve been a long time coming around
Girl meets boy meets girl

Mafia’s Kiosk

With no good options you get a voucher
Parliament is dying to have one more say
She’s been somebody else’s girl since the avenue opened for the one-eyed squirrels
At the mafia’s kiosk
I’m treading water for her as she lives a lie
We sold our passions there in hopes to patronize a mafia’s kiosk
There’s no good danger if you’ll accept it
Government unstable so you turn to crime
We should only be half as good as the kingdom is burned for a cross of wood
At the Mafia’s Kiosk
I’m getting quite tired of smiling as I sell a lie
We’re striking matches as a prolonged suicide at the Mafia’s Kiosk
Would you fall in love if she knew the misery?
“Everything will go as planned, after all we’re mostly free…”
I’m treading water for her as she lives a lie
We sold our passions there in hopes to patronize a mafia’s kiosk
Why’d I fall in love?
Who gave me the right to be happy every night?
Would we fall in love again if we knew the price to spend
At the Mafia’s Kiosk?
She’s been somebody else’s girl and the mafia’s kiosk

Haven’t You Noticed

Haven’t you noticed
You’re living in pure denial
Haven’t you noticed you were never meant to be with him
Tear your heart apart and hold it here above the gun
Open up for all the world to see
Haven’t you noticed
Who’s clattering the window pane?
Haven’t you noticed
Who’s lying to save their pride?
Who is looking for an honest everlasting love
When all the other wants is to get laid?
But he is the only one you know
Four years and nowhere else to go
Maybe he loves you
He’s feeling you up in silence
He’s been a good boy
But you’re telling him to hide behind it
He don’t understand the way your silky-white shoulders shake
What are you frightened of?
Tease and you will speak up
I only wanted to sleep with you
Haven’t you noticed
She built a whisper to a moan
Trying to wave breakers out of foam
Haven’t you noticed
You’re living without a prayer
Haven’t you noticed
Most people can’t live without
If you say you’re sorry
I’m sure the good won’t recognize
They’re blinded by Jesus and his lies
I only wanted to sleep with you

How Virginity Said Goodbye

I’m trying hard to get a point of view
I’ve lost regard for what you’re trying to prove
Oh please forgive me I made a big mistake
You bend the barrier but never let it break
No more exceptions to your rules
How virginity said goodbye
Love comes and goes with a turn of cheek
Sticking out her tongue until I couldn’t speak
Soon we’re off and running by staying in one place
I tried to save myself but I only saved my face
Love, lust it’s all the same
How virginity said goodbye
But it felt like love (so was it love?)
It tasted like love (so was it love?)
She said it was love (so was it love?)
It must have been love, love, love
There was a motive that I wasn’t willing to see
The lust for pleasure was more than a promise could mean
There were no judges who tallied the profit and cost
I gave up winning and woke up to find that I’d lost everything
How virginity said goodbye
Amen

Cynical One

Cynical one what are you doing here?
Lying in my room with nothing on
Looking so cold covered with tears
Gun on the floor
So he needed another rich daughter like you needed that hole in your head
Cynical girl, sarcastic on
Wish you could see what you’ve done
Ah, Joan…
Photograph suicide comment at four
Blame it on gas in the atmosphere
You were so young looking at schools soon to be wed
So you needed another rich husband
Just like you needed that hole in your head
Cynical girl, sarcastic one
Some would have thought you’d have fun
Let’s look inside your note see what’s going on
Oh, so you were awfully tired of home
“I am all alone and no one understands.”
“Won’t amount to anything according to their plan.”
“I have only one thing so I’ll take it by myself…”
Amen
“So you think the world is cruel at times
but if you listen carefully you can hear the music calling
telling you that it is your decision and after all we must accept your wishes
so with one last breath we go with your intensions now…”
Amen

Wanted To Believe Her

How do you do today, could we try patiently
To believe in love?
Maybe you could be chained to a dragon
I could be the knave who saves you from it
Who has the hocket now, move it by left to right
If you want to try
Maybe I could be slave to a princess
You could be her maiden who is wet with tears
I wanted to believe her
But she didn’t care, she was merely happy
With her rosy perfume sentiment
Waiting for the day she could show emotion
Underline her diary by herself
We could have been a pair, sitting in London Town
Reading by the traffic
Looking for chamomile, an umbrella
Opens in the rain through half of August
I wanted to believe her
But she didn’t care, she was merely happy
Making funny faces in the dark
And she wouldn’t say if she had a problem
Separate the flowers in the way
She will never know what it could have been like
Funny how the wind blows by itself
But I guess it’s fine, she was not appointed
It’s not like a princess to be wrong
I wanted to believe her
